Meatballs                        Aunt Ethel (Johnson)

1 envelope onion soup mixed with 1/2 cup water

2 eggs          

2 lbs. ground beef

1 16 oz. can sauerkraut drained and snipped

1 16 oz. can whole cranberry sauce

3/4 cup chili sauce           

3/4 cup water

1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)

 

Mix dry soup mix, 1/2 cup water, beat in eggs with fork.  Add meat, mix well. Make 40 meatballs and brown.  Combine kraut, cranberries, chili sauce, 3/4 cup water and sugar.  Pour half in baking dish (drain fat off meatballs and arrange on top of kraut).  Put remaining kraut on top.  Cover with foil.  Bake at 325 degrees for 20 minutes.  Uncover ‑ bake 15 to 20 minutes more.
