Caramel Bars                        Jan Peterson

1 1/2 cup flour                        1 1/4 cup melted butter

1 1/4 cup brown sugar                        1 bag caramels

1/4 tsp. salt                        1/2 cup cream

1 1/2 cup oatmeal                        1 1/2 cup chocolate chips

3/4 tsp. Soda

 

Mix  first 6 ingredients  and press into bottom of 10 x 14 inch pan.  Reserve 2/3 cup crumbs for top.  Bake at 350 for 10 min.   Melt caramels and cream in double boiler (or microwave).  Sprinkle chocolate chips over baked crust.  Pour caramel mixture over top and sprinkle rest of crumbs for topping.  Bake at 350 for 15 to 20 minutes.  Cool before  cutting.
