Crispy Oat Treats                        Hillary Isaacson

1 cup margarine or butter, softened  1 tsp. Vanilla

1 cup sugar  3 ½ cups flour

1 cup brown sugar  1 tsp. Baking soda

1 egg  ½ tsp. Salt

1 cup vegetable oil  1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats uncooked

1 cup Grape Nuts cereal  1 cup dried cranberries

1/3 cup chopped pecans or walnuts

 

Beat margarine until light and fluffy.  Add granulated sugar, and brown sugar, beating well.  Add egg; beat well.  Add oil and vanilla.  Mix well.  Combine flour, baking soda and salt; add to margarine mixture and blend well.  Stir in oats, cereal, cranberries and nuts.  Shape dough into 1 inch balls; place balls on ungreased baking sheet.  Flatten each ball of dough with tines of a fork.  Bake in a 325 oven for 15 minutes.
