Butter Pecan Turtle Cookies                        Bev Helling

 

Crust:

2 cups flour                        1 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup soft butter                        1 cup pecan halves

 

Mix flour, butter and sugar until fine and crumbly.  Press into an ungreased 9 x 13" pan.  Sprinkle crust with pecans.

 

Caramel Layer

2/3 cup butter                        1/2 cup brown sugar

 

Cook butter and brown sugar over medium heat until bubbly.  Boil 2 minutes stirring constantly.  Pour over crust and bake for 18 ‑ 20 minutes at 350 degrees.  Sprinkle 1 cup chocolate chips over caramel layer.  Let set for 2 to 3 minutes and swirl.  Cool and cut into bars.
