Scotch Devil's Food Cake                                 Bev Helling

2 cups sugar                                                         1/2 cup margerine

2 eggs                                                                     1 teaspoon salt

4 rounded Tablespoons cocoa in 1 cup boiling water

1 teaspoon vanilla                                                2 1/2 cups flour

1 teaspoon soda in 1 cup hot water


Cream sugar and margerine, add eggs and vanilla and beat until creamy.  Add flour alternately with cocoa mixture ingredients.  Last add 1 cup hot water and baking soda.  Bake in large flat pan or 3 layer tins 30 to 40 minutes at 350 degrees.  Done when it comes away from edge of pan.


White Frosting

2 cups powdered sugar                                     1/3 cup cold water

1/4 cup flour                                                           1/2 cup Crisco

1 egg                                                                        dash of salt



Beat all together with electric mixer until real white and creamy.
