Black Walnut Taffy                                                 Aunt Ethel Johnson

1 cup sugar                                                               1 Tablespoon butter

1/2 cup chopped nutmeats                                       1 cup milk

1 cup light molasses                                                 1 teaspoon vanilla

1/4 teaspoon salt


Boil molasses, sugar, salt, milk and butter until hard ball is formed in cold water.  Add vanilla.  Spread nuts over bottom of buttered pan.  Pour taffy over nuts.  Cool until can be handled.  Pull until stiff.  Cut and wrap in wax paper.
