Italian Casserole                        Jan Peterson

3/4 lb. Italian sausage            3/4 lb. Ground beef

½ cup chopped onions            ½ cup chopped green pepper

1 - 6 oz. Can tomato sauce            1 - 6 oz. Can tomato paste

1/4 cup water            ½ tsp. Basil

½ tsp. Oregano            `½ tsp. Salt

½ tsp pepper            1/8 tsp. Garlic powder

8 oz. Egg noodles            4 oz. Cheddar cheese

1 small can sliced black olives

 

Cook sausage, beef, onion and green pepper until meat is browned and vegetables are tender, drain.  Add tomato sauce and paste, water and seasonings; bring to a boil.  Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 5 minutes.  Stir in noodles.  Pour into greased 13 x 9 pan.  Top with cheese.  Cover and bake at 350 for 30-45 minutes - or until heated through.  (Ron likes this made with deer sausage and ground venison).
