Brownies                                                                    Bev Helling

1 cup margarine or butter                                           2 cups sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla                                                      2 eggs

1/2 cup cocoa                                                             2 cups flour

1 cup nuts (if desired).

Cream margarine and sugar thoroughly.  Add vanilla and eggs.  Add combined cocoa and flour, beat well.  Add nuts.  Bake in 9 x 13 pan at 350 degrees 20 ‑ 25 minutes.

 

Chocolate Frosting

2 cups powdered sugar sifted                                    1/4 cup cream

Melt  together

2 oz. bitter chocolate                                                  1/4 cup butter

Pour sugar and milk into melted chocolate and butter.  Beat well.  Bev received this recipe from a former neighbor years ago (Bea Anderson) and it is a real favorite of the family.
