Apple Squares                        Jan Peterson

Peel and core 6 apples ‑ mix with 1 1/4 cup sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon salt.  Let stand while preparing crust.

 

Crust:

2 1/2 cups flour                        1 Tablespoon sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt                        1 cup Crisco

 

Mix together.  Beat 2 egg yolks in cup ‑ add milk to make 2/3 cup.  Add to flour mixture.  Roll out 1/2 of the dough in a jelly roll pan 10 x 13.  Crumble 1 cup corn flakes over crust.  Spread apple mixture over this.  Top with remaining dough like pie crust.  Bake 30 minutes in 350 degrees oven.  Frost with powdered sugar and water frosting.
