Date Cake Grandma Petersen Lil

1 cup dates chopped fine 1 tsp. Soda

1 1/4 cup boiling water 1 cup sugar

2 Tbsp. Butter 1 ½ cup flour

2 eggs, beaten ½ tsp. Baking powder

2 cups nutmeats

Pour baking soda and boiling water over dates. Cream together sugar, butter, add 2 beaten eggs. Add dates and flour and baking powder and nutmeats. Bake in moderate over until toothpick comes out clean. Serve with whipped cream.
