Texas Chocolate Cake Jan Peterson
2 sticks oleo 6
Tbsp. cocoa
2 cups sugar 2
cups flour
1/2 tsp. salt 2
eggs
1/2 cup sour cream 1
tsp. soda
1 tsp. vanilla
In large bowl, combine
sugar, flour and salt. Boil oleo, water
and cocoa, and when ready, add to dry ingredients. Add beaten eggs, sour cream, soda and vanilla. Use jelly roll sheet or 2 x 13 inch pan
(ungreased). Bake at 400 for 20 minutes. When 15 minutes have elapsed, time to make
Chocolate Frosting.
Chocolate Frosting
6 Tbsp. cocoa 1/3
cup milk
1 stick oleo 1
box powdered sugar
1 tsp. salt 1
cup chopped nuts
1 tsp. vanilla
Bring to boil the cocoa,
milk and oleo. Add powdered sugar,
salt, chopped nuts, and vanilla.
Frosting is to be put on cake while it is still warm - and frosting
cannot set in pan too long or it gets too hard. The minute the frosting is done, it should be put on the cake.
