Hamburger Soup                                       Aunt Mayme Peterson

1 lb. hamburger, lightly browned           2 tsp. salt

1/4 tsp. pepper                                            1 cup diced celery

5 cups water                                                1 cup diced carrots

1/2 cup diced onions                                 1 cup diced potatoes

1/4 cup rice                                                  2 cups tomato juice

 

Simmer until vegetables and rice are done.  In place of rice, another cup of potatoes may be added.
